Cleanings

Our skilled and competent hygienists provide gentle and thorough cleanings using the latest procedures and advanced equipment, including prophy jets and ultrasonic scalers to remove stubborn stains and for a bright, polished finish.

Your comprehensive exam will establish if you have gum disease and need deep cleaning or if you can get a regular cleaning. Our hygienists use gentle deep cleaning to remove bacteria and hardened plaque. Their deep cleaning is very thorough to ensure the gums heal. If needed, they will apply Arestin^®, a localized time-release antibiotic therapy that reduces the amount of bacteria present. Dental Emergencies

If you have an emergency situation, call (954) 566-7479. If it is during regular business hours, we will do our best to see you on the same day. We also have after-hours phone service until 9pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends to provide fast response and scheduling. When you arrive, the doctor will assess your condition and, if need be, get you out of pain.

Porcelain Crowns & Bridges

When a tooth has been damaged, a crown can be placed over its entire external portion down to the gum line. This restores the form and function of the tooth. Crowns are typically placed over teeth whose cavities are too large for fillings. Dr. Johnson also provides onlays and inlays, porcelain restorations that go over or inside the cusps of your teeth and are good for large cavities but require much less preparation than a crown.

Crowns may be used for cosmetic purposes to improve the appearance of a broken or chipped tooth. Dr. Johnson uses high-grade materials and works closely with our lab to provide you with durable, natural-looking crowns that blend in with your natural teeth. She offers all-porcelain, metal-free crowns and strong zirconia for heavy clenchers and grinders.

Dental bridges are used to replace one or a few missing teeth. We make all-porcelain bridges and customize them to fit well. Dr. Johnson typically recommends a dental bridge if the teeth on either side of the missing teeth are already capped or if the patient can’t receive a dental implant for some reason. Otherwise, she recommends dental implants to replace missing teeth for a much longer-lasting, more natural-looking and feeling experience, and because they don’t require cutting down of adjacent teeth as with a dental bridge.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Dr. Johnson can restore your teeth with a tooth-colored filling, which is a safer and more appealing solution to metal fillings. Traditional amalgam material is not only unhealthy, it is also unappealing. In addition to being affordable, composite fillings are natural-looking, safe, and biocompatible.

Gentle Tooth Extractions and Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Dr. Johnson tries to save teeth whenever possible, but if a tooth is too badly damaged or wrongly positioned, an extraction may be the only solution. We perform gentle tooth extractions and have many ways to keep you comfortable during the procedure, including oral sedation. When we extract a tooth we place a small amount of bone graft material to preserve the socket and prevent bone resorption.

Bone grafting and sinus lifts for dental implants

A solid foundation is vital to the success of a dental implant. To compensate for bone loss beneath a missing tooth, it may be necessary to augment the jaw bone to provide enough bone to support an implant post. Sinus lifts may also be done to provide vertical space for an implant site.

Our periodontist, Dr. Alvarez, is an expert in bone grafting and sinus lifts and will perform bone grafting if needed as part of your dental treatment.

A sinus lift may be necessary when a sinus is too close to the location where a dental implant is to be placed. This can occur when teeth in the back of the upper jaw are missing, causing the sinuses to expand.

She is highly skilled and knowledgeable when it comes to combating all stages of gum disease. She works closely with you to thoroughly educate you on how to maintain a healthy smile for life.

Oral Sedation

We provide oral sedation in the form of a sedative pill to help you relax. Oral sedation puts you into a sort of “twilight” sleep in which you can still respond to requests and questions.

Nitrous Oxide

We offer nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, as one of our sedation options. Nitrous oxide takes effect quickly—from a few seconds to a few minutes after inhaling. It obscures pain and gives patients a feeling of well-being.
